Tour by the Monasteries and straight to a beach
As we depart, the schedule is announced from the speakers and there is an update on board. The route to the first monastery lasts 2.5 to 3 hours during which you can enjoy the cruise looking at both the Sithonia Peninsula and the Mount Athos one embracing the Siggitikos bay. If you have a look at the blue sea, you can spot dolphins which usually accompany us on our trip and at the same time you will learn about the history of Mount Athos through the guided tour which is head on board from the speakers.
The way the trip takes place depends on the weather conditions. If the weather conditions are favorable, then the trip departs from Ormos Panagias heading to H.M. Saint Pavlos which is situated at the foot of Mountain Athos which towers up to 2.033m., in the southern part of Mount Athos. If the weather conditions are not favorable, then the trip begins and our first destination is H.M. Dochiariou.
During this route, you will be able to be tour guided and see 8 monasteries: Holy Monastery Docheiariou, H.M. Xenophontos, H.M. Panteleimonos (Russian Monastery), H.M. Xiropotamou, the central port of Mount Athos Daphni, H.M. Simonos Petras, H.M. Grigoriou, H.M. Dionysiou and finally in the shadow of Mountain Athos which towers up to 2033m. H.M. Saint Pavlou.
There is a stop at about 13:30 at the small islands Drenia of Ammouliani. It is a remarkable place since it consists of a group of small islets which are equally attractive to many exotic destinations in Asia and America, with blue waters and green vegetation- typical of the area. You will be able to relax there for 2 hours on a sunbed and under the shade of umbrellas, on a beach with a beach bar and a taverna where you can order any traditional seafood you desire besides the menu you have bought.
The area is also ideal for those who love exploration since in its Northern part there are small hills with steep cliffs. If you able to reach them, you will be speechless by the view to the open sea, Sithonia and the Mount Athos peninsula.
